Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy 2006! I hope it will be a better year ahead for everyone, especially those who are having LASIK complications like myself. Hopefully, we will all find solutions to these problems soon.

Okay, today is my second day wearing RGP lens. I will be going to Genting Highlands for a short vacation later in the afternoon and I will return tomorrow. I hope these lenses will not give me any troubles. Anyway, I have to go to BL Optometrist again tomorrow for a check-up. I’ll let Madam Low know what I experience today and yesterday night.

  1. Hi,

I stumbled upon your site while researching for LASIK treatment online. So happen I’m home today because I’ve developed a cornea ulcer due to contact lenses; on new year’s day somemore, my eyes really know how to pick a good day to swell. I’ve thought of going for eye laser and solve the problem once and for all. Reading your story made me want to find out more info before I actually go for it. I’d just like to say well done for making the effort to come up with this website. It definitely will help a lot of people out there who needs more info from a third party, rather than from the LASIK centre. Keep up the good work!!

  2. Wong,

I have been following your blog. Congratulations on your first steps toward vision recovery. I hope that you are able to work through the details of getting a great fitting set of contact lenses. Now you can understand what I have been saying about the lenses eliminating the Higher Order Aberrations.

I am certain that there are many others in your situation who could benefit.

  3. Thank you very much for you post Sher Li. Sorry to hear that you’ve got corneal ulcer on the New Year’s day, I hope you are feeling better now. Are you wearing RGPs as well? Anyway, there are quite a number people who are suffering from LASIK complications in Malaysia and Singapore too. I’m not the only one. I always hear scary stories from the doctors and optometrists. And I’m sure the number is growing because more and more people are going for LASIK. I hope with this site, the public will be more aware about this.

It’s your choice whether or not to go for LASIK. But bear in mind that there’s always risks. If your prescription is not that high (below -4.00), you might want to try Orthokeratology lens. It’s a surgical free method. Read More.

  4. Well, I’m pretty new in terms of info regarding LASIK. I only hear the beautiful success stories but not the unsuccessful ones. Would be good if you could recommend any surgeons or LASIK/Ortho centres in Malaysia that I could consider. You have gone through all these yourself and it’ll help me lots with your recommendation. Both my eyes are -3.25. Been wearing lenses for 10 years now. Thanks!

  5. Hi Dr.G,
Thanks DrG!!! I’m looking forward to the new pair of lenses too. Yes, I can now understand that RGPs can really reduce > 80% of (if not totally eliminate) the HOAs. I still notice a little bit of starbursts around small sharp lights and though. Anyway, I’ll have to wait until I get my hands on the next pair of lenses. Thanks for dropping by DrG!

    Cheers!
